Oh hellz yes!! I bought my first DSLR camera (a Canon EOS Rebel T5i) and a 50mm lens. I’m looking forward to reading the manual and testing out what I learn. Before purchasing the camera, I did some research by asking friends and scouting Pinterest, even started a Photography pinboard. Nikon or Canon? Bundle or buy everything separately? I chose the later to both of those questions.
Everyone I talked to and the blogs I read advised me that the bundles were essentially a waste of money. The quality of the products that came in the bundle besides the body of the camera weren’t worth it. Plus, I’m trying to cut down on clutter and the last thing I need is a bunch of stuff taking up space while I try to sell them on Ebay.
There are tons of resources online for learning how to use DSLR cameras, but I think the best way to learn is to play around with it and press all the buttons — see what happens. I do plan on taking an online course, like one of the many Craftsy Photography Classes. One of my new year’s resolutions is to take better pictures and learn new skills. I’m hoping my new purchase will help me achieve both of those goals.
Any tips for a new DSLR camera owner?
