This year was my fifth year attending Live 105’s BFD with my best friend Ashley. While we had just come back from Summer Camp Festival in Illinois the weekend before and were definitely tired, we decided we couldn’t miss BFD. It was Year 5 after all and who knows if we’ll go again. After Summer Camp Festival, I realized I might not be able to do multi-day camping festivals anymore. I need clean toilets, sink basins and at least a couple hours of sleep to function. Maybe I crave the finer things in life, like showers and a mattress. Regardless, I was a little exhausted from SCF but knew Ashley and I had to keep on, keeping on.
I was really pleased with the lineup this year at BFD and got see most of the bands that were high on my list. I’ve been a fan of Fitz and the Tantrums for about four years now and I always enjoy seeing them live. This year, they made it to the main stage and while I didn’t catch the whole set, what I did see was great as usual.
I have to point out how great Ashley and my lashes look. You know I have to plug my fabulous 3D Fiber Lash Mascara when I can.
Phantogram and Walk the Moon were both great live. I was looking forward to hearing Bleachers and unfortunately, the only song I liked that they performed was the one I hear on the radio, “I Wanna Get Better.” The Subsonic tent was going off and I actually ran into a couple friends there. The Subsonic tent is a great place to chill when you need to get out of the sun for a couple minutes. No sunburn for me this year.
Foster the People headlined and MIA performed before them. We skipped out on watching both of them. We had both seen Foster the People before and Ashley’s seen MIA, but in all honesty, it was a Sunday night and we both had work the next day. The crowded parking lots and all the jampacked streets near the amphitheater when a show gets out is pretty gnarly. We dodged a bullet. We also stopped by In-and-Out on the way home because, HELLO! Burgers, fries and milkshakes. Diets can always start on Monday.
One band that I didn’t catch this time but need to soon is a local band from the San Francisco Bay Area: Finish Ticket. They played the Bud Light Festival Stage These guys get a lot of buzz around here and are actually sponsored by Velodyne.
